CONCERNED TRANSIT RIDERS FOR EQUAL ACCESS TAKES STAND AGAINST PRIVATIZATION

On March 9, at the monthly meeting of Concerned Transit Riders for Equal Access, the organization took a position against privatization citing the issues of safety, services, and accountability. CTREA is dedicated to informing, educating and advocating for transportation that is efficient, effective and accessible and believes that MARTA Mobility's purpose is to provide service not make a profit.

This group was originally called Concerned Paratransit Riders and was established by Virginia Gray and Sandra Owens; in 2009, interests expanded to include fixed route service and other forms of transportation. Membership is comprised of disability rights groups, local advocates, members of the transit union and others who are interested in transit accessibility. Recently CTREA hosted the “Getting on Track in 2013: Finding the Route to Accessible Transportation,” meeting with representatives from both MARTA and the Amalgamated Transit Union. This event was widely attended and well received, providing a forum to get a better understanding of transit accessibility and planning.

Visit CTREA on Facebook. Ken Mitchell is the current president. They hold their monthly meetings on the second Saturday at the Shepherd Center.
